Every year on February 21st, we joyfully celebrate International Mother Language Day, a special day dedicated to honoring the beautiful array of languages spoken worldwide. Initiated by UNESCO in 1999, this celebration emphasizes the significance of diverse languages in preserving cultural heritage, identity, and effective communication.
Why Cherish Mother Languages?

Currently, around 6,700 languages are spoken globally, but sadly, nearly half of them are considered endangered. International Mother Language Day serves as a reminder of the delicate nature of linguistic diversity and the urgency of preserving these precious languages. By celebrating our own mother languages and those of others, we actively contribute to safeguarding this vital cultural heritage, ensuring future generations can connect with their roots.

কেৱল উদযাপনৰ বাহিৰেও আন্তঃৰাষ্ট্ৰীয় মাতৃভাষা দিৱসে ভাষিক বৈচিত্ৰ্যক প্ৰসাৰিত কৰাৰ বাবে সুনিৰ্দিষ্ট কাৰ্য্যক উৎসাহিত কৰে। চৰকাৰ, শিক্ষানুষ্ঠান, আৰু ব্যক্তি সকলোৱে ইয়াৰ দ্বাৰা ভূমিকা ল’ব পাৰে:
১) বহুভাষিক শিক্ষাত সহায় কৰা: অতিৰিক্ত ভাষা আহৰণ কৰাৰ সমান্তৰালকৈ শিশুসকলে নিজৰ মাতৃভাষাত শিকিব পৰা আৰু পাৰদৰ্শিতা দেখুৱাব পৰাটো নিশ্চিত কৰা।
২) ভাষাৰ নথিপত্ৰ আৰু পুনৰুজ্জীৱিতকৰণ কাৰ্যসূচীত বিনিয়োগ কৰা: বিপন্ন ভাষাসমূহ সংৰক্ষণ কৰা আৰু দৈনন্দিন জীৱনত ইয়াৰ ব্যৱহাৰ অব্যাহত ৰখাটো নিশ্চিত কৰা।
৩) ৰাজহুৱা স্থান আৰু সংবাদ মাধ্যমত বহুভাষিকতাক প্ৰসাৰ কৰা: বিভিন্ন ভাষাৰ মূল্যৰ ওপৰত আলোকপাত কৰা আৰু সমাজৰ সকলো দিশতে ইয়াৰ ব্যৱহাৰক উৎসাহিত কৰা।
৪) ব্যক্তিগত জীৱনত বহুভাষিকতাক আকোৱালি লোৱা: নতুন ভাষা শিকিলে, আমাৰ মাতৃভাষা সক্ৰিয়ভাৱে ব্যৱহাৰ কৰা, ভাষিক বৈচিত্ৰ্যৰ শলাগ লোৱাটোৱে অধিক সমৃদ্ধ আৰু অধিক অন্তৰ্ভুক্ত পৃথিৱীত অৰিহণা যোগায়।
